Retraction & Correction
The Journal of Contemporary Islamic Law and Studies (JCILS) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Any necessary corrections, clarifications, or retractions will be handled transparently in accordance with international publishing standards.
1. Corrections (Erratum and Corrigendum)
Corrections may be issued when minor errors are identified that do not affect the overall results or conclusions of the article.
- Erratum: Issued for errors introduced by the publisher
- Corrigendum: Issued for errors made by the author(s)
All corrections will be clearly linked to the original article and will be published as separate notices.
2. Retraction
An article may be retracted if there is clear evidence of:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Duplicate publication
- Serious ethical violations
- Major errors that invalidate the findings
A retraction notice will be published and will include:
- The reason for retraction
- Reference to the original article
The original article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as “Retracted”.
3. Expression of Concern
An Expression of Concern may be issued when:
- There is inconclusive evidence of misconduct
- An investigation is ongoing
- There are serious doubts about the integrity of the article
This notice will remain until a final decision (correction or retraction) is made.
4. Retraction Process
Retraction decisions may be initiated by:
- Authors
- Editors
- Reviewers
- Readers or third parties
All cases will be handled through a fair and transparent investigation, following established ethical guidelines (e.g., COPE).
5. Author Involvement
Authors will be:
- Notified of any concerns raised
- Given an opportunity to respond
- Involved in the correction or retraction process where appropriate
6. Integrity and Transparency
JCILS ensures that:
- All corrections and retractions are clearly identified
- The publication record remains transparent and traceable
- Actions are taken to maintain trust in the academic record
