Data and Reproducibility

The Journal of Contemporary Islamic Law and Studies (JCILS) is committed to promoting transparency, integrity, and reproducibility in scholarly research.

1. Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to make all data supporting the findings of their study available, where applicable. This may include:

  • Datasets
  • Legal documents
  • Case materials
  • Fieldwork records
  • Supplementary materials

If data cannot be shared due to ethical, legal, or confidentiality reasons, authors must clearly state the justification in the manuscript.


2. Reproducibility of Research

Authors must provide sufficient detail in their methodology and analysis to allow other researchers to understand, verify, and replicate the study where possible.

For doctrinal, normative, or qualitative legal research, reproducibility includes:

  • Clear explanation of legal sources
  • Transparent analytical framework
  • Consistent interpretation of legal texts

3. Data Citation

All data sources must be properly cited in the manuscript. Authors should ensure that:

  • Data sources are traceable and verifiable
  • References are accurate and complete
  • Publicly available data includes access links where possible

4. Ethical Considerations

Authors must ensure that:

  • Data collection complies with ethical standards
  • Confidential or sensitive information is properly protected
  • Necessary permissions have been obtained for the use of data

5. Use of Repositories

Authors are encouraged to deposit their data in appropriate repositories (institutional or public) to enhance accessibility and long-term preservation.
