Withdrawal of Manuscript

The Journal of Contemporary Islamic Law and Studies (JCILS) allows authors to withdraw their manuscripts under certain conditions, subject to the following policies:

1. Withdrawal Before Review

Authors may request to withdraw their manuscript before the peer-review process begins by submitting a formal request to the editorial office.

2. Withdrawal During Review Process

Withdrawal requests during the peer-review process are strongly discouraged.
Authors must provide a valid and reasonable justification for withdrawal.

The editorial team reserves the right to approve or reject such requests.

3. Withdrawal After Acceptance

Withdrawal of a manuscript after acceptance is not permitted, except under exceptional circumstances with strong justification.

Unethical withdrawal at this stage may result in:

  • Blacklisting of the author(s) for future submissions
  • Notification to affiliated institutions (if necessary)

4. Withdrawal After Publication

Once an article is published, it cannot be withdrawn.
Any necessary corrections will be handled through:

  • Erratum
  • Corrigendum
  • Retraction (in cases of serious ethical violations)

5. Ethical Considerations

Authors are expected to comply with ethical publishing standards.
Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals or withdrawing without valid reason during review is considered unethical.

6. Formal Withdrawal Procedure

All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author and must include:

  • Manuscript title
  • Author name(s)
  • Reason for withdrawal

The request will only be processed after approval from the editorial team.
